Some may argue that smoke detectors shouldn’t necessarily have an elegant exterior and that functionality is more important than the design. While it is true that a smoke detector should have its main focus on the reliability factor, it is also a device that will undoubtedly attract some attention since it will be either mounted on the wall or ceiling. So, aesthetics are important and it is nice to see that the newer smart detectors are better looking with each iteration and have taken advantage of different types of LEDs. But, sometimes, a flashy design is overkill and a simple, non intrusive case is the better choice some don’t like a multitude of LEDs to shine from their ceiling. As you may have guessed, the First Alert SCO501CN 3ST indeed features a relatively simple white round case, on the front with a large Test/Silence Weekly button, as well as two LED indicators CO and Smoke and several cut out areas in form of a leaf and underneath it, there’s the speaker. On the lateral side, you’ll be able to identify a small cover which, when removed, will reveal a dedicated space for inserting the two batteries. The device is available as a battery only model and, unlike the PRC710 which has a sealed battery, the First Alert SCO501CN 3ST allows you to change the batteries as soon as necessary it requires 2 AA batteries – the negative aspect is that unlike the sealed batteries which can go up to 10 years which is usually the life expectancy of the smoke alarm, the removable type of batteries will last a lot less. The case of the SCO501CN 3ST is a bit more slimmer than the usual bulky smoke detectors, while maintaining an average diameter it measures 5. 0 x 5. 0 x 2. 0 inches, so, it may fit nicely even in the living room although some may not appreciate the slight industrial look of the device.

The mere fact that you are an anonymous writer should prove your claims are unsubstantiated and absurd. Clearly whomever wrote the compaint is someone who simply couldn't cut it at Silverline Security. It is a shame that instead of owning up with personal accountability you would anonymously post garbage. I'm going to stick with the title of the article states. SCAM!A Silverline salesperson came to my door to inform me that my previous security company Pinnacle has sold my contract to them and that they were going to upgrade my system free of charge and sign an agreement with them and pay the remainder of the Pinnacle contract off. Sounded great because Pinnacle wasn't living up to there contract. I cancelled with Pinnacle and received a final bill and faxed it to Silverline. I get a phone call later that week from Silverline asking me if I kept the old equipment, because they were not going to pay Pinnacle off and I needed to go back with them. What are you serious? They charged me two months of service and Pinnacle wants me to pay them two months of service to get reinstated. What a mess!So after a couple calls I managed to get my money back from Silverline!Beware of these tactics, make sure you call you're existing security provider first before making any changes!Yes, I agree it is a SCAM. They targeted my elderly mother, who had ADT signs in her yard AND a no solicitations sign on BOTH of her front doors.

After I watch him do it on the doorbell camera and my other camera in the garage, I close the garage door from the MyQ app and everything is secure. Okay, there are some pros and cons to the video doorbell but it’s much better than the ring doorbell i had for two years for a couple of reasons. For one, the ring video doorbell came up with something that was considered very revolutionary at the time and that is the motion sensor which is really a heat motion sensor. I do like the fact that the heat motion sensor was meant to detect people not video motion and you can change the sensitivity to the heat moron but the Ring doorbell motion sensor does not do that very well. No matter what the sensitivity level that I set it to, it will always pick up large trucks and SUVs driving by on the road in front of my house since my ring doorbell faced the street out in front and the the street is more than a 70 feet from my front door I still picked up garbage trucks and large SUVs that passed by because of their heat signature. I also realized that even though you can change the directions of where it will pick up heat motion it wasn’t quite doing that. This new doorbell camera does a better job because it makes sure that you can draw boxes on the video view of exactly where you you want motion to be detected. So when it came to making sure it only picked up motion at the front door and then the front yard I didn’t have to worry about motion that was happening with cars driving by only when someone actually walked up to the front door or through the pathway to the front door. I also was able to change the sensitivity of the motion detection more accurately than the ring video doorbell but there is the flaw I’m hoping the new camera doesn’t have – motion pickup from Summer bugs!Right now I’ve eliminates 90% of the false motion alarms I use to get on my phone from Ring but I never had to worry about bugs crawling on rings cameras screen since it will only detect heat and it’s winter – so no bugs. I’m wondering if a moth or a spider would trigger the motion detection during summer months. I wrote to the site and they responded by saying they haven’t experienced any problems yet of course they would say that but since this new doorbell just came out in September, summer was almost over.
